News Mali Finance: Mali forecasts industrial gold production of 64.1 T in 2022
Mali's industrial gold mines are expected to produce 64.1 tonnes of gold in 2022, compared to 63.4 tonnes in 2021, the mines ministry said on Thursday. Mali is one of Africa's top gold producers and home to industrial mines operated by companies including Barrick Gold , B2GOLD, Resolute Mining, AngloGold Ashanti and Hummingbird Resources . "In 2022 industrial companies plan to produce 64.12 tonnes, a little more than last year, due among other things to the entry into production of two mines: Bagama Mining SA and Faboula Gold," said Mamadou Sidibe, head of statistics at the ministry.
News Mali Finance: France to continue aerial support to Mali after troop withdrawal
OUAGADOUGOU (Reuters) -France will still give aerial military support to Malian troops battling an Islamist insurgency in the Sahel even after its counter-terrorism mission has withdrawn, but only where Russian fighters are not present, the force's commander said on Friday. Mali's former colonial power announced last month that it would pull out 2,400 troops first deployed to Mali almost a decade ago, after relations with the country's ruling military junta turned sour earlier this year.
